Artist Manifesto
As an artist I believe that acting should be a service to, and connect with, audiences. Acting is in the entertainment industry, not the service industry. There is no difference between the joy on someone’s face when I connect with them through my performance art and the joy when I hand them a pretty latte. I am particularly inspired by opportunities to bring art to underserved communities—those that don’t regularly experience the wonder of connecting with theater, film, and television in the way that so many of us have come to take for granted.
I bring that service mentality with me on set and in the rehearsal room as well. I show up early and prepared, having done my homework so that I can focus on uplifting my scene partners and crew-members. I try to live in the moment so I can send my energy to others and create beautiful stories that we can share with the world. Our art is always made in a community and is at its best when it is in service to another community.
